There are a lot of things students need to know about being in fifth grade. Our classroom is very structured, and there are lots of rules and procedures in place. However, you'll see that these rules and procedures aren't hard to get used to, and they'll make our class a much more enjoyable place to be. Here's a little heads-up, so you know what to expect when school begins.
Rules
- Listen when Mrs. Dixon is talking.
- Follow directions quickly.
- Keep hands and feet to yourself.
- Raise your hand to speak or stand.
- Be safe, be kind, and be honest.
Procedures
Binders: Each student will have a S.T.A.R. Binder. Learn more about S.T.A.R. Binders here!
Morning Work: Every morning when you come in the room, you'll complete morning work. Your morning work is to unpack, turn in your homework and your agenda, and complete your Daily Language Review and Math 4 Today. We'll get together in the morning and review the answers to the work. You can copy down the correct answers if you missed any, and that corrected work will serve as a weekly grade (so make sure you're paying attention!).
Classwork: Classwork should be turned in daily in the appropriate folder. Class assignments that are turned in MUST have the appropriate header! In the top right corner of your paper, you must write your first and last name, number, date, and the assignment. This isn't hard to do, but you have to work hard to remember. Papers must be labeled correctly! Here's an example for you.
